Daily Bulletin October 5, 2017

Boys Basketball Try-Outs:  Conditioning week starts October 24th -26th from 3 to 3:45 p.m.  Try-outs will be October 30th -31st from 5 to 6:30 p.m.  You must attend conditioning week in order to try-out.  Must have a current physical on file and be eligible to try-out.  See Coach Smith to sign up.    

All Key Club members who wish to purchase a t-shirt bring your money to Mr. Harper by Tuesday, October 10th.  The cost is $14.

Anchor Club will meet Thursday, October 5th at 3 p.m. in the library.

Page Star Student Notification:  Seniors, the last SAT testing date to qualify for Star Student is the November 4th test date.

Attention Student:  Please don't forget that School Pictures were rescheduled for Monday, October 9th.   9th-11th grades will take pictures during 1st block with makeups being during 1st block on October 10th. You can order packages online or pay the photographers on the 9th.  Price flyers are posted on the BHS website.

Senior Portrait Makeups:  The last chance for Senior Portrait Makeups will be Monday, October 9th during second block.  Appointment times were distributed.  If a student does not have an appointment he/she should report during 2nd block to the gym.  A sitting fee of $25 is due on the 9th.  This is the last chance to appear in the yearbook.

SAT Testers, be sure to have a photo ID and your admission ticket with you on Saturday.  You will not be allowed to test without this information.  Please don’t forget to leave all electronic devices at home, which include both phones and apple watches.

FCA would like to encourage students to participate in the national "Students bring your BIBLE to school" day this Thursday, October 5th.  Let's show courage and boldness in our faith by not being ashamed of our Christian faith.

FCA will also meet this Friday morning, October 6th at   7:20 in the Chorus room. Come be encouraged with praise music led by Michael Ryan, Faith Taunton, and Sebastian DeRocco followed by a skit or word of encouragement.  All students and staff are welcome!

Rock Painting Party:  FCCLA and FBLA will have a meeting on Thursday, October 5th from 3:00- 4:00 p.m. in room 1147.  We will be painting rocks and snacks will be provided.  Please plan to join us for this fun activity. 

National Bullying Prevention:  Every October, schools and organizations across the country join STOMP Out Bullying in observing National Bullying Prevention Month. The goal: encourage communities to work together to stop bullying and cyberbullying by increasing awareness of the prevalence and impact of bullying on all children of all ages.  Don’t be a bystander. Stand with the Golden Rule Club and report any acts of bullying you see or hear. A box is located in guidance for all anonymous reports.

The 2017 Probe College Fair will be held at BHS on Monday, October 23rd from 9:00 - 11:30 a.m.  This year, we will have three (3) distinct 45-minute rotations with three different groups.  The schedule will be as follows:  9:00 - 9:45 AM - BHS Juniors in the Gym with recruiters (~342 students).  9:45 - 10:30 AM - BHS Seniors in the Gym with recruiters (~306 students). 10:30 - 11:15 AM - Students from Seminole County High School, Grace Christian Academy and Southwest Georgia Academy in the Gym with recruiters (~150 students).  See Jennifer Voyles, 9th Grade Counselor for more details.

SAT:  To ensure that no gets an unfair advantage on test day, test center staffs are required to collect and hold cell phones and other prohibited electronic devices during the test administration.  You may not use or access the device until testing is completed.  Test centers are serious about security and a quiet testing environment; therefore prohibited devices must be turned off and collected.  Whenever possible, leave these devices at home.  For more information, please go to:  https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/taking-the-test/phone-electronic-devices-policy?ep_mid=11407396&ep_rid=287617346  

First day of Wrestling practice is October 30th for all non-football players.  Hydration test scheduled for November 14th, we will travel as a team, more information to come.  Any concerns or questions call Coach Smith 229-220-0675.

All 11th graders will take the ASVAB on October 25th.  12th graders interested in taking the ASVAB must sign up in Guidance by Tuesday, October 10th.

The GFB Foundation for Agriculture strives to provide students with an opportunity to succeed as they study agriculture-related courses.  There are several scholarship opportunities available to students, each with varying criteria and eligibility requirements. This year, we are providing over $60,000 worth of scholarships to students in the following areas: high school seniors, rising college juniors and seniors, technical college students and students at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine.  Applications for the 2018 cycle are now available at http://www.gfbfoundation.org/aitc_scholarships.html. Completed applications are due March 2, 2018.  

Please note, this year, applications are to be submitted ONLINE only. Hard copy applications will not be accepted, however, transcripts and letters of recommendations will be accepted in either online or hard copy format.  If you have any questions regarding the scholarship program, please contact Katie Gazda at kngazda@gfb.org or (478) 474-0679, ext. 5230.

Jay Menees, a representative from University of Georgia will visit BHS on Thursday, October 5th from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. in the Guidance Career Center.  Interested students please sign up in guidance.

If you are interested in being on the BHS Swim Team, please sign up in Dr. Chambers or Mrs. Campbell's room.  Practices will begin October 18th, and you must have a current physical on file to participate.

Accuplacer Testing Dates for BHS Students:  First time testers only!  Sign up in Guidance.  Test will be given on the following dates:  Tuesday, October 17th; and Tuesday, November 14th.

Returning MOWR Students:  Students must meet with Mrs. Laura Brown with Bainbridge State College by December 15th to enroll in Spring classes.  Also, bring a copy of your class schedule to your counselor.

NEW MOWR STUDENTS:  If you are interested in MOWR classes for Spring 2018 you must have the following completed by December 15th: (1) Passing scores from the Accuplacer or ACT/SAT.  (2) You and your parent(s) must meet with your high school counselor.  (3) Meet with Laura Brown at Bainbridge State College and bring a copy of your class schedule to your counselor.

Free math tutoring will be available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Math Tutoring Center room 1225.  Students must have a pass from their classroom teacher, pencil, paper, and sample problems they need help with.  All students must sign in and out.

Attention Juniors:  The Georgetown Club of Metro Atlanta is sponsoring a writing contest encouraging students to think broadly and analytically about global issues while sharpening their communication skills.  First prize is $1000.  The deadline for submission is Wednesday, November 1st.  See Dr. Chambers for more information if interested. 

Attention Students:  All students coming from Bainbridge must enter the campus via the west gate (bus gate); only students entering campus from the east (climax) should enter via the main gate.  All student drop off is in the front of the school and parents dropping off should enter the main gate.

Attention Seniors and Juniors:  Please don't forget to join The Bainbridge High School S.A.T/A.C.T. and Scholarship Information GoogleClassroom. This GoogleClassroom will provide you with A LOT of information regarding test dates, scholarship applications and deadlines, and also information concerning enlisting in the military. The code to join is z7dg47. Any questions please see Mrs. Shelita Close in room 1243. 

School Parking at BHS requires a parking permit.  Honors Parking is the first row nearest the English/Fine Arts wing.  Senior Row is the second row from the English/Fine Arts wing.  Only students with Honors Parking permits are allowed to park on Honors Row, and only Seniors are to park on Senior Row.

All students who drive to school are required to have a Parking Permit.  Permits are $10 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wooten in the front office.  Students who are ticketed for not having a parking permit will be fined $20.

Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment:  Students requesting Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment MUST sign up on Mondays in the Administrative Office. Certificates will be available for pick up on Wednesday.  There will be a $1.00 charge for certificates.

LUNCH MENU:  Chicken Nuggets or Smoked Sausage Link, Mac n Cheese, Seasoned Cabbage, Black-eyed Peas, Cornbread, Fresh Garden Salad, Assorted Fresh Fruit
