Daily Bulletin December 1, 2017

FCA would like to thank all participants in the Powder Puff game last night. Congratulations to the Sophomores who came away Champions and awarded the Ultimate Pink helmet trophy. Proceeds from the game will be used by FCA to sponsor two families for Christmas through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree project.

There will be a pre-tryout meeting for those wanting to tryout for Gymnastics on Friday, December 1st at 3:15 p.m. at Bainbridge Middle School in Mrs. Hawkins room 117. Tryouts for gymnastics will be Monday, December 4th.

The Technology Student Association will meeting on Friday, December 1st from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Mr. Lewis' Engineering Lab.

The Softball Banquet will be Tuesday, December 5th at 7:00 p.m.  Players need to contact Coach Bryant with the number of guest they are bringing by 12:00 on Friday. 

Key Club members please see Mr. Harper by Friday, December 1st to sign up for upcoming service projects.

The BHS Chorus and Cat Call A Capella group will be having their Winter Concert next Monday, December 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge State College Kirbo Center. The concert is FREE to attend! Please bring family and friends to support the talent at BHS this holiday season.

ACT Student Champions receive a $500 non-renewable scholarship, certificate, plaque, and state-level recognition.  Students in the graduating class of 2018 who have taken the ACT who fit the following criteria should apply:  1. Student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions.  2. Students must have a composite ACT score of a 22 on a single test date or a 3.0 or greater on a 4.0 scale.  3.  Preference will be given to underrepresented and/or first-generation college students.  Applications can be found at www.act.org/readinesschampions. Applications are due December 31, 2017, and champions will be notified on or before April 2, 2018

PSAT Scores will be available online to students between December 11th and 13th.

Regional Partners Network - Youth Development Committee 2018 Youth Summit for Southwest Georgia will take place Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at Southwest Georgia RESA located at 570 Martin Luther King, Jr. Road, Camilla, Georgia 31730 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  The Youth Summit will offer guidance to students on career opportunities after high school.  The sessions will cover careers, leadership skills, financial literacy and so much more!  The students will be able to interact with students from neighboring schools and a dynamic group of leaders.  If you would like to nominate Junior and Senior students pick up a brochure from guidance.

ABAC Stallion Days are hosted on February 3rd, and April 7th and are a fantastic chance for students to experience ABAC!  For more information go to www.abac.edu 

The Senator David Shafer Essay Scholarship Contest:  This contest was created to encourage research and critical thinking about the character traits that helped shape America.  Deadline is January 1, 2018 at 11:59 p.m.  

StudentsScholarships.org is offering the following scholarships opportunities; please see Guidance for more information: 

- HSC Home Warranty Scholarship for $2000, one award will be given.  Deadline is December 1st.

- Barbara Lotze Scholarship for Teachers for $2000, five awards will be given.  Deadline is December 1st.

- National Space Club Scholarship for $10,000, one award will be given.  Deadline is December 1st.

The GFB Foundation for Agriculture strives to provide students with an opportunity to succeed as they study agriculture-related courses.  There are several scholarships opportunities available to students, each with varying criteria and eligibility requirements. This year, we are providing over $60,000 worth of scholarships to students in the following areas: high school seniors, rising college juniors and seniors, technical college students and students at the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine.  Applications for the 2018 cycle are now available at http://www.gfbfoundation.org/aitc_scholarships.html. Completed applications are due March 2, 2018.  Please note, this year, applications are to be submitted ONLINE only. Returning MOWR Students:  Students must meet with Mrs. Laura Brown with Bainbridge State College by December 15th to enroll in Spring classes.  Also, bring a copy of your class schedule to your counselor.

NEW MOWR STUDENTS:  If you are interested in MOWR classes for Spring 2018 you must have the following completed by December 15th: (1) Passing scores from the Accuplacer or ACT/SAT.  (2) You and your parent(s) must meet with your high school counselor.  (3) Meet with Laura Brown at Bainbridge State College and bring a copy of your class schedule to your counselor.

Free math tutoring will be available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Math Tutoring Center room 1225.  Students must have a pass from their classroom teacher, pencil, paper, and sample problems they need help with.  All students must sign in and out.

Attention Students:  All students coming from Bainbridge must enter the campus via the west gate (bus gate); only students entering campus from the east (Climax) should enter via the main gate.  All student drop off is in the front of the school and parents dropping off should enter the main gate.

School Parking at BHS requires a parking permit.  Honors Parking is the first row nearest the English/Fine Arts wing.  Senior Row is the second row from the English/Fine Arts wing.  Only students with Honors Parking permits are allowed to park on Honors Row, and only seniors are to park on Senior Row.

All students who drive to school are required to have a Parking Permit.  Permits are $10 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wooten in the front office.  Students who are ticketed for not having a parking permit will be fined $20.

Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment:  Students requesting Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment MUST sign up on Mondays in the Administrative Office. Certificates will be available for pick up on Wednesday.  There will be a $1.00 charge for certificates.

LUNCH MENU:  Chicken Tenders or Pizza, Garlic Bread, Golden Corn, Tater Tots, Marinara Sauce, Vegetable of the Day, Fresh Garden Salad, Fresh Fruit

BEARCAT EXPRESS LANE:  Chicken Tenders, Trio Italian Meats (Cold Cuts), Ham, Turkey, Chicken or Tuna Salad, Assorted Veggies, Assorted Fruit, Chips or Crackers

NEXT DAY’S BREAKFAST:  Twin Sausage Biscuit, Assorted Muffins, Fresh Fruit, Juice, Milk
