The Bainbridge High School award winning Band will be holding its annual auxiliary tryouts on March 30, 2018. We will have a four day camp at which students will learn the basic fundamentals for this audition. The mini-camp will begin on Monday, March 26th and will last from 3:15 until 5:00 p.m. Camp will begin with an orientation and then work will begin on the audition routine. Audition packets are available in the band office and Mrs. Brown’s room located on the math wing. Auditions are open to the student body, 8th grade through 11th grade for the next school year.

If you are interested in volunteering for a special event then go see Mrs. Griffin in room 1141. The Special Olympics is a wonderful event put on by BHS every year. We need student volunteers who have a kind and generous heart and who are willing to put these special athletes first. If you are interested in being a part of this event on March 30th come fill out an application and turn it in no later than Thursday, March 10th. Discipline and grades will be checked.
Students who are interested in being on the 2018-2019 Purango Staff, applications are available from Dr. Chambers in room 6204. Applicants will need a recommendation from an English teacher, should have no discipline issues, and should have good attendance. Applications are due by Wednesday, March 7th.
The Accuplacer will be given to first time test takers at BHS on March 27th and April 24th. Testing will take place in the Media Center Lab at 8:00. Interested students can sign up in Guidance on a first come first serve basis. Study guides are also available.
Prom Reminders: Date: March 24, 2018 in the BHS Gym. Time: Promenade (seniors only) 7:30-8:30 and Dance from 8:30-11:30. Cost: $25 a ticket on sale March 9th, 16th, and 19th. March 9th is the deadline for turning in completed paperwork for bringing a non-BHS student as a guest. ALL non-BHS guests attending Prom and Promenade must be in grades 9-12 or be no older than 21. This includes family members escorting for Promenade. Friends and family are welcome to come and watch Promenade at no charge. Doors to the gym will open at 5:30. There will be a short intermission at 8:00 to allow parents and guests of students who have already promenaded to leave and make room for more family members of students yet to Promenade.
The 2018 James D. Eunice Legacy Scholarship awards $500 annually to graduating seniors to continue James’s legacy of investing in others. Applicants must be a graduating senior from a South Georgia High School. All applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.50, reside in the United States, and intended to enroll in a post-secondary college, technical college or university in the United States. Applications are available in guidance. Deadline is March 15, 2018.
John M. Simmons Educational Scholarship annually awards up $20,000.00 in scholarship to seniors of Bainbridge High School, Grace Christian Academy, Robert F. Munroe, Maclay School, Chiles High School, and Brookwood School. Applicants must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.75, must reside in the United States, and be enrolled or enrolling in a post- secondary college, technical college or university in the United States. Applications are available in guidance. Applications must be received by April 1, 2018.
Black Note is looking to award a $2,000 scholarship to each student that shares innovative, ingenious or just plain good ideas on ways to help smokers put down cigarettes and join the world’s smoke-free movement. They will be looking at your writing abilities, but are most interested in your ideas that can help produce a truly smoke-free world. Please write an essay that: Is well-researched and evidence-based; discusses feasible solutions for smokers looking to make a positive change in their lives; encourages others to participate in the smoke-free movement; touches on any personal connection you may have that makes the topic more meaningful; explains why a smoke-free world is important for you, society and the environment; Is original, clear, concise and compelling to read; and includes a photo or video if you feel either adds value to your submission (optional). The 2018 Asa Tuten Memorial – GFSA: The Georgia Fire Sprinkler Association awards scholarships annually in the amount of $1500, $1000, and $750 to high school seniors through an essay writing contest. 2018 Akerman Academic Excellence Scholarship Application is now open. Akerman LLP and National CASA are excited to announce the application process is now open for the second annual Akerman Academic Excellence Scholarship Award. A scholarship in the amount of $2,500 will be awarded to an outstanding former foster youth who has demonstrated a commitment to academic achievement. Additional scholarship funds will be awarded at the discretion of the Scholarship Selection Committee. Recipients remaining in good academic standing and meeting additional requirements may be eligible to receive the scholarship for four years. If you know a young person who has spent time in foster care and meets the scholarship eligibility requirements, please nominate him or her for the award. The submission deadline is Friday, March 9, 2018, by 5 p.m. (PT). The scholarship recipient will be announced May 4, 2018.
Tracy Stephens, the CEO and Founder of Dreams to Kings and Queens award two $500 scholarships and three laptops to graduating seniors. This scholarship is intended to help students have a chance at pursuing a college education and accomplish their dreams. The eligibility requirements for this scholarship include: must be graduating high school senior (in the state of Georgia), GPA of 2.5 greater, and be accepted to and prepared to attend an accredited university/college. The application process includes: submitting a High School Transcript and submitting a two page essay answering the following question, “What kind of positive impact do you hope to make in the world?” To apply for this scholarship students must go to https://www.dreamstokingsandqueens.com/scholarship-laptop-giveaway. One boy and girl will be chosen as scholarship recipients. They will each receive $500. Then there will be 3 students selected to receive a new laptop. Bill Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, a $1,000 scholarship will be awarded annually. Applicants must be a graduating senior from either Bainbridge High School or Grace Christian Academy. Applicants must reside in the United States, and plan to attend a post-secondary college or university in the United States. This scholarship will be awarded on the basis of leadership abilities, community service and academics. A transcript must be attached in order to be considered. Application must be submitted by April 1, 2018.
DOCO Credit Union will award twenty $1,000.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors based upon demonstration of strong academic achievement as well as well-rounded blend of extra-curricular activities, school/community service initiatives, essay and financial need. Applicants must be a dependent of a primary member of DOCO Credit Union, must be a high school senior planning to enroll in a 2- or 4- year college, university or vocational-technical college. Scholarship Overview: The Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship is available to undergraduates who were athletes at the high school level. You do not need to be an athlete at the college level. Free math tutoring will be available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Math Tutoring Center room 1225. Students must have a pass from their classroom teacher, pencil, paper, and sample problems they need help with. All students must sign in and out.
Morning Traffic Flow: All students coming from Bainbridge must enter the campus via the west gate (bus gate); only students entering campus from the east (Climax) should enter via the main gate. All student drop off is in the front of the school and parents dropping off should enter the main gate.
School Parking at BHS requires a parking permit. Honors Parking is the first row nearest the English/Fine Arts wing. Senior Row is the second row from the English/Fine Arts wing. Only students with Honors Parking permits are allowed to park on Honors Row, and only seniors are to park on Senior Row.
All students who drive to school are required to have a Parking Permit. Permits are $10 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wooten in the front office. Students who are ticketed for not having a parking permit will be fined $20.
Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment: Students requesting Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment MUST sign up on Mondays in the Administrative Office. Certificates will be available for pick up on Wednesday. There will be a $1.00 charge for certificates.
