Thursday, April 19th Free Physicals will be held in the BHS gym.  Athletes should start arriving at 3:45 p.m. and the doctors will be arriving at 5:30 p.m.  Students and parents must complete the on-line portion of physical before being seen by the doctor. This can be accessed on the BHS website under the spotlight section.  See Nurse Howard or Coach Aaron Brown with any questions or concerns.

Attention Junior Class Boys:  Georgia Boys State is a one week course in state and local government and is a leadership action program of the American Legion Department of Georgia.  Please see Mrs. Lowe in Guidance if interested in more information about Boys State.

Angie Wilson, representative from Georgia Student Finance will visit BHS on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 5:30 pm.  Please sign-up in guidance.

Woodman Life/Dorothy Odom Memorial Scholarship:  Woodman Life is offering a $1,000.00 scholarship to a graduating senior at Bainbridge High School.  Requirements:  student must be a graduating senior and must write a 500 word essay on Patriotism and the Importance it Play in Your Life Now as an Adult. Applications are available in guidance.  Deadline is Friday, April 30, 2018.

If you received an application to join the National Honor Society, you have until Wednesday, April 11th to turn in your application and dues.  You will not be inducted if your application and dues have not been turned in.

AP Students: Pre-registration for the AP exams will be April 17th.  Please see the schedule below to know when to report to the data room.  If an AP student has a college class or is off campus for work, he/she can pick another block to report.  Mrs. Burke will complete the paperwork for students who are off campus all day.  1st block: 7:45 last names A-F; 2nd block: 9:20 last names G-K; 3rd block: L-R (all students report at 10:55 except students with 1st lunch, they should report at 11:55 after 1st lunch); and 4th block: 1:15 last names S-Z.

Senior Soccer Players:  Senior Night is Tuesday, April 17thPlease stop by Mrs. Oldaker’s room or Mr. Matthews’s room and pick up an “About Me” form.  Completed forms must be returned to Mrs. Oldaker, Mr. Matthews, or your coach by this Friday.    

Senior 2019 Portraits will be taken July 16th, 17th and 18th in the BHS cafeteria.  Appointment cards will be mailed home this summer and an informational meeting will be held with the Junior Class on April 19th during Cats Connect.  If a student is unable to take pictures on those three days, he/she must call BPI photography (229-382-8277) and make arrangements with the Tifton office. These portraits will be the pictures used in the yearbook.

Savannah State University Alumni Scholarship is available for graduating seniors interested in attending Savannah State University. Applications are available in BHS Guidance.

Mayo Livingston, Senior Rotary Volunteer Service Scholarship and Alfred A. Rogers Rotary Volunteer Service Scholarship:  The Rotary Club of Bainbridge, Georgia has established two scholarships for graduating seniors to encourage and reward students who demonstrate a steadfast and long-serving spirit of volunteerism; the Mayo Livingston, Senior Volunteer Service Scholarship and the Alfred A. Rogers Volunteer Service Scholarship.  Who is eligible?  One scholarship will be awarded to a student entering an accredited U.S. college fall semester as a full-time student and who will pursue a course of study leading to an associate of arts or baccalaureate degree.  One scholarship will be awarded to a student entering an accredited technical school fall semester as a full-time student and who will pursue a program of study leading to certification and/or licensure.  What is the amount of the scholarship?  Each scholarship recipient will receive a one-time award of $1,000.00.  The applicant must submit proof of enrollment (fall semester class schedule) to Renee Wooten, Bainbridge High School Bookkeeper.  What are the requirements for the award?  (All must be met for consideration.):  (1) 2.5 or higher GPA; (2) Demonstration of a commitment to community service; (3) Documentation of community service experience;  (4) Two letters of reference are required (one must be from an organization where the applicant engaged in volunteer community service that was not required as part of a classroom assignment and the other one should be from a person other than family who will attest to your character and leadership qualities); (5) Essay (described on the scholarship form); (6) Official copy of his or her high school record (7) Record of description of volunteerism or activism at the high school level.  Who handles the scholarship procedures?  All phases of the competition including selection of recipients and payment of stipends for scholarships will be overseen by the Rotary Volunteer Scholarship Committee.  The composition of the committee is one Rotary Club of Bainbridge member, one Bainbridge High School teacher or administrator, and one Bainbridge High School counselor.  If a student from a Decatur County school other than Bainbridge High School applies, two Rotarians will serve on the committee.  If the committee deems necessary, it may choose several applicants to interview.  Interviewing will take place between April 15th and May 1st and the committee will select the recipients.  All decisions of the committee are final.  Who can answer any questions I may have?  The Bainbridge High School Guidance Department Chair and the Rotary Club of Bainbridge New Generations Chair can answer all questions. Applications are available in BHS Guidance Department. Deadline to submit applications to BHS Guidance is April 16, 2018 by 3:00 p.m.

The Dylan Reid Faircloth first scholarship was established to honor the memory of Dylan Reid Faircloth and his love of running by granting seniors, who are dedicated to the sport of cross country running and share his strong character and love of life.  To qualify students must:  (1) be a Senior Cross Country Runner; (2) application must be received complete, by the Bainbridge High School Guidance Department chair no later than April 27th 2018 along with all required documentation; (3) completed applications will not be accepted electronically; (4) type or write directly on application sheet or retype using an identical format; (5) attach an essay describing how Cross Country Running has impacted your life; and (6) letter of reference is required, it must be a high school teacher that can speak to the character of the student.   Scholarship applications are located in BHS guidance. 

The Dr. Eric Dueno Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Dr. Eric Dueno, Professor of Chemistry at Bainbridge State College, by granting a scholarship to a graduating senior who is dedicated to the sport of cross country running.  Dr. Dueno was an avid runner with a passion for mentoring students by sharing his love of learning in the classroom and his love of running outside the classroom.  Who is eligible? One scholarship will be awarded to a student entering an accredited U.S. university or college this fall semester as a full-time student and who will pursue a course of study leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree.  What is the amount of the scholarship?  The scholarship recipient will receive a one-time award of $1,000.00. The applicant must submit proof of enrollment (fall semester class schedule) to Mrs. Renee Wooten, Bainbridge High School Bookkeeper for payment. What are the requirements for the award? All must be met for consideration:  (1) 2.5 or higher GPA; (3) minimum of two years participation on the cross country team; (3) completed application; (4) one letter of reference is required, it must be from a high school teacher who can speak to the character of the student, (5) essay (described on the scholarship form); and (6) official copy of his or her high school record.  Applications are available in BHS Guidance Department. Deadline to return applications to BHS Guidance is April 20, 2018 by 3:00 p.m.

Attention Dual Enrollment Students:  Current Dual Enrollment students; the Summer/Fall deadline for meeting with your BHS counselor and with Mrs. Brown at the college is May 11th.  Please give a copy of your schedule(s) to your school counselor by May 11th

Interested Dual Enrollment students, you must qualify with at least a 3.0 Academic GPA and a qualifying test score, meet with your school counselor, and meet with Mrs. Brown at the college by the May 11th Summer/Fall deadline.   Please give a copy of your schedule(s) to your school counselor by May 11th.  Please see your school counselor if you have further questions.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Gadsden County Florida Alumnae Chapter (GCFAC), a public service sorority, will recognize students who are committed to academic excellence, positive leadership, and community service.  The scholarship will be awarded to a graduating high school senior residing in Gadsden and Decatur Counties.  Applications are available in the BHS Guidance Office.  The following must be returned to GCFAC in one packet:  (1) completed application must be typed and signed; (2) written essay titled “Why Am I a Good Candidate for the Scholarship” essay must be typed, double spaced, and a maximum of 500 words; (3) future goals and aspirations; (4) letter of recommendation from a teacher, staff or faculty member (must be on official letterhead); and (5) copy of official transcripts.  Incomplete and handwritten applications will not be considered.  Application deadline is April 30, 2018.  Packet should be mailed to:  Gadsden County Florida Alumnae Chapter; Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.; Attn: Scholarship Committee; P. Tracy Stephens, the CEO and Founder of Dreams to Kings and Queens award two $500 scholarships and three laptops to graduating seniors. This scholarship is intended to help students have a chance at pursuing a college education and accomplish their dreams.  The eligibility requirements for this scholarship include:  must be graduating high school senior (in the state of Georgia), GPA of 2.5 greater, and be accepted to and prepared to attend an accredited university/college. The application process includes:  submitting a High School Transcript and submitting a two page essay answering the following question, “What kind of positive impact do you hope to make in the world?”  To apply for this scholarship students must go to https://www.dreamstokingsandqueens.com/scholarship-laptop-giveaway. One boy and girl will be chosen as scholarship recipients. They will each receive $500. Then there will be 3 students selected to receive a new laptop. Students can submit applications until Friday, April 27, 2018.

The Accuplacer will be given to first time test takers at BHS on April 24th.  Testing will take place in the Media Center Lab at 8:00.  Interested students can sign up in Guidance on a first come first serve basis.  Study guides are also available.

Scholarship Overview: The Athnet Sports Recruiting Scholarship is available to undergraduates who were athletes at the high school level. You do not need to be an athlete at the college level.  Application deadline is June 1st.  The award amount is $1000.  Eligibility requirements are former high school athletes who are enrolled as a full-time student at a two or four-year college.  For application instructions go to https://www.athleticscholarships.net/scholarship-contest.html

Free math tutoring will be available every Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Math Tutoring Center room 1225.  Students must have a pass from their classroom teacher, pencil, paper, and sample problems they need help with.  All students must sign in and out.

Morning Traffic Flow:  All students coming from Bainbridge must enter the campus via the west gate (bus gate); only students entering campus from the east (Climax) should enter via the main gate.  All student drop off is in the front of the school and parents dropping off should enter the main gate.

School Parking at BHS requires a parking permit. Honors Parking is the first row nearest the English/Fine Arts wing.  Senior Row is the second row from the English/Fine Arts wing.  Only students with Honors Parking permits are allowed to park on Honors Row, and only seniors are to park on Senior Row.

All students who drive to school are required to have a Parking Permit.  Permits are $10 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wooten in the front office.  Students who are ticketed for not having a parking permit will be fined $20.

Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment:  Students requesting Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment MUST sign up on Mondays in the Administrative Office. Certificates will be available for pick up on Wednesday.  There will be a $1.00 charge for certificates.
