Principal's Message

Letitia Austin

BMS PrincipalBainbridge Middle School (BMS) is a parent-friendly school where we focus on what's best for students! As principal, I feel elated and grateful to have the opportunity to lead such a progressive school.  At BMS, we have high standards and expectations for all students.  Embracing the District's mission---Excellence, Engagement, and Accountability for All---is what we will diligently strive to achieve in all we do.

I urge our entire staff to welcome each student and embrace their individual uniqueness as well as their diverse backgrounds. BMS teachers and staff believe that all students can learn and meet high standards at their own pace.  I charge all BMS students to: (1) be accountable, (2) be innovative, (3) make positive choices, (3) be effective communicators and (4) become lifelong learners in society.  At BMS, students are offered rigorous learning opportunities through project-based learning, high student engagement, high levels of questioning, and making connections.  Students will become active learners in every classroom. We are STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) oriented and promote activities with high levels of engagement in ALL classrooms.

I believe it takes strong parent-community-school ties to improve student academic achievement. At BMS, our goal is to strategically provide genuine dialogue through school conferences, open houses, and curriculum night in order for families, the commuity and the school to come together. As principal, I encourage all parents to get plugged in: Get trained to volunteer in our school, join our PTO, assist with STEM projects, complete parent surveys, and provide feedback! Parents, you are valuable to your children, and you are valuable to our school!

I look forward to working with all stakeholders, students, parents, staff and members of the community to make this year a success.

Letitia P. Austin, Principal
