Elcan-King (EKE) was constructed during the years of 1954 and 1955. The school's name is unique because it was named after a former school superintendent, E.G. Elcan, and a former local principal, Grace King. These names combined together to form our school name Elcan-King.
The school was renovated in 1993, adding a gymnasium, a media center, and additional classrooms increasing the total square footage to 57,489. Elcan-King is the home of 480 cougars, in grades Pre-K through 4th.
Committed to the development of each child through academic achievement and promotion of self-worth, we all strive to reach our motto, "Climbing to Greater Heights." We are proud of the Highly Qualified professional credentials of our teaching staff.
Currently our certified staff hold degrees in the following areas: 12 individuals with a Bachelors degree, 10 certified at the Masters level, and 9 individuals with a Specialist degree. EKE has 18 paraprofessionals/teacher's aides who work under the direct supervision of our highly qualified teachers. These individuals provide support for our kindergarten, special education, and Title I students. In addition to the certified and classified teachers, we have two clerical positions, six nutritional staff members, three custodial staff members, and one resource officer who is shared by other schools in the county.
