Title 1 Parent & Family Engagement Plan

Invitation to Participate

Decatur County Schools annually reviews and revises our Title I Parent and Family Engagement Plan and our CLIP (Consolidated LEA Implementation Plan). The annual review process is discussed at our annual Title I Stakeholder Meeting. Opportunities to attend these meetings will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at noon and 5:30 pm. at the Decatur County Student Support Center (507 Martin Street in West Bainbridge). All parents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend this informational meeting.

Stakeholders are also invited to visit the Decatur County Parent Resource Center on July 19th between the hours of noon and 5:30 pm to participate in the annual review process. The District CLIP, District Parent and Family Engagement Plan, and Individual Schoolwide and Parent and Family Engagement Plans will be available for review. Parents and stakeholders are encouraged to view these plans and offer feedback and suggestions.

Immunization Clinic Shots

Attention 6th grade parents:


An Immunization Clinic will be held at HMS on May 10th for those 6th graders that need updated immunization (Tdap, MCV) to enter 7th grade. If you want your child to participate in the clinic,  please contact the nurse by May 4th.

School Improvement sip

HMS will hold our School Improvement session June 8-9 from 8:00-4:00. You are welcome to attend, on June 9th from 9-11, we will revise our Parent Compact, Parent Involvement Plan, and School Improvement Plan. We will also discuss expenditure of 1% of Parent Involvement money.   Your attendance and input is greatly appreciated.  

Year Book Sale Yearbook

This is the last week to purchase the 2016-2017 yearbook.  If you are interested in purchasing a yearbook, please send $30 by the end of the week.

School Choice Week April 24th - 28th

The Decatur County Board of Education requires that all students attend the school in the zone in which they reside unless they are in a specialized program that contains students across school zones.  Any exceptions to this policy must be made through the “School Choice Plan.”

Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smartphones or tablet.   All parents should be encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  Results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.  The URL address for the Georgia Parent Survey is posted below.  Thank you for your support.

World School Milk Day

The schools in over 40 countries around the world will celebrate World School Milk Day on Wednesday, September 28. Hutto Middle School will be joining in on this 17th anniversary celebration. We have a very eventful lunch planned. We will be holding our very first cow costume contest during each lunch period. Please come and help us celebrate by wearing your favorite cow costume.

School Closing

Due to the possibility of severe weather, all Decatur County Schools will be closed on Friday, September 2nd.  The afterschool program has been cancelled for Thursday, September 1st.  Everyone stay safe.

Exciting news, everyone!

Underway now, Get Georgia Reading Campaign partner myON is delivering thousands of free books to computer and mobile devices that you can access 24 hours a day—every day—through Aug. 31.

Last summer, kids throughout the state read 248,901 books and spent 55,831 hours reading. This year, we are challenging Georgia to top last year’s numbers by reading more than 250,000 books and spending over 60,000 hours reading.
