JJE Kindergarten are Engineers in the Making

JJE Kindergarten has been learning about the engineering design process.  They read the story Michelle’s MVP Award (a chemical engineering story) and learned that an engineer is a person who designs thing that solve problems by using their creativity and understanding of math and science. They also learned about solids and liquids. They used salt, flour and water to make the playdough.  Students had to follow the steps in a process to make their playdough, and figure what else may be needed to help make their playdough more of a high quality, like the kind you buy in the store. Some added more flour, some added more salt, and some thought they needed more water. They compared the one they made to the store bought playdough. They had so much fun figuring out what they needed to make their playdough high quality, but the best part was getting to play with it once they had made it!
