Teaching & Learning Information and Resources

Instructional Coaches provide support for teaching and learning by leading professional learning, guiding unit development for the Common Core and Next Generation Science Standards, modeling best practices, assisting in formative assessment test development, analyzing data, and monitoring student achievement.   Please visit staff pages for contact information or visit content specific pages for additional information and resources. 

Assessments developed by the Georgia Department of Education, Decatur County Schools, College Board and other agencies are administered annually.  Tests include but are not limited to the Georgia Milestones Assessment System, AP exams, SAT/PSAT, ACT, ACCUPLACER, local checkpoints and other.  To access the Decatur County Assessment Plan, Decatur County Assessment Calendar, State Testing Window and related information please visit the Assessment and Student Growth link under Departments. 

Curriculum and Instruction in Decatur County Schools is based on the Georgia Performance Standards, the Common Core Georgia Performance Standards, and the College Board requirements for AP courses. Professional Learning is the foundation of continuous improvement in Decatur County Schools.   Formal and informal learning opportunities are provided via in-house experts, regional improvement specialists, and state/national/international experts.  Face-to-face opportunities, webinars and video segments are the primary service delivery methods and offerings are responsive the annual needs determined through surveys, data analysis, observations and strategic planning sessions.  For additional information, please visit the Professional Learning link under Departments.
