HealthMPowers Announcement for the Week:  Staying on track and making healthy decisions is easier with support.  Find a friend with similar health and fitness goals as you, swap healthy recipes and be active together.   

Bainbridge High School is partnering with the Bainbridge Walk to End Alzheimer's. We have a team signed up and so far, we are in the top 3 teams in the county! And this is strictly based on the sales of the bracelets. If anyone would like to join the team and help raise more money for this cause, please email Mycla Palmer at mpalmer@dcboe.com and she will help get you signed up! 

Friday, October 4th is the last day to sign up for the ASVAB.  Seniors who are hoping to test should sign up with Mrs. Wells by Friday.

If you are interested in swimming on the BHS Swim Team but missed the meeting last night, you need to pick up the information packet from Dr. Chambers in room 6204.  She also has sample suits and parkas you can try on for sizing.  Tryouts are Oct 14th and 15th, and you must have a physical on file to try out.

Girls and Boys Basketball Tryouts will be October 21st and 22nd from 3:00-4:30 p.m. (boys) and 4:30-6:00 p.m. (girls). Sign up in the gym.  You must have a physical and be academically eligible. See Coach Cochran or Coach Page if you have any questions.  

The BHS Cheerleaders are selling Pink Out Shirts for Breast Cancer Awareness.  All proceeds will go to BCSG of Decatur County.  The cost is $15 for sizes Youth X-Small up through Adult X-Large and $17 for 2XL through 5XL.  Please note shirts will be sold in Guildan brand, not comfort colors.  If you would like to purchase a Pink Out shirt, please get your order and payment to Trish Taunton by October 15th.  Thank you for your support!

Interact Club will meet on October 14th during fourth lunch.

Key Club Members that wish to purchase a club t-shirt, the money for the shirt must be turned into Mr. Harper by Friday, October 4, 2019.  The cost of the t-shirt will be $14 per person.

If you are bringing a non-BHS student (PLC is same as BHS) to HOCO, you must have a form completed by October 16thForms are available on the table in the lunchroom or the front office.  A photo ID must be included with your form.

Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) will offer the ABAC Next Generation Accuplacer at Bainbridge High School on Tuesday, October 29thThis test date is ONLY for students who have never taken the ABAC Next Generation Accuplacer before.  Students must have a 3.0 ACADEMIC Grade Point Average (GPA) to be eligible to test. Students should see their school counselor to verify their academic GPA before signing up. After students receive verification from their counselor, they should sign up for one of the testing dates using the following link: https://forms.gle/aWSUAuNSAratGVZ2A . Students who have tested before but did not make qualifying scores will need to use the following link to register to retest the correct section(s). Homecoming is right around the corner. The BHS Clothes Closet has lots of formal dress that are free for the taking!

The ASVAB is scheduled for October 16th at BHS.  The sign up list for SENIORS is now posted in Guidance.  Seniors interested in taking the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) should sign up with Mrs. Wells.  Spots are limited, so reserve your spot as soon as possible.

Bainbridge High School Athletics is hosting the 1st Annual Alumni Flag Football 7 on 7 Tournament.  Join us for a fun day of football, food, and tailgate for Bearcat Athletic on Saturday, November 9th from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Centennial Field.  Tournament will begin at 9 a.m. and tailgating will be from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.  For more information, contact Scott Miller (229) 400-3866 or smiller@dcboe.com.  Team and tailgate registration packets are available at Bainbridge High School, front office or on the BHS webpage.  Registration ends November 5th.       

Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment:  Students requesting Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment MUST sign up online on the BHS website page; go to Quick Links, Certificate of Enrollment to sign up.  Students must sign up by Monday midnight.  Certificates will be available for pick up on Wednesday.  There will be a $1.00 charge for certificates.

Morning Traffic Flow:  All students coming from Bainbridge must enter the campus via the west gate (bus gate); only students entering campus from the east (Climax) should enter via the main gate.  All student drop off is in the front of the school and parents dropping off should enter the main gate.

School Parking at BHS requires a parking permit. Honor parking is the first row nearest the English/Fine Arts wing.  Senior Row is the second row from the English/Fine Arts wing.  Only students with Honors Parking permits are allowed to park on Honors Row, and only seniors are to park on Senior Row.

All students who drive to school are required to have a Parking Permit.  Permits are $15 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wooten in the front office.  Students who are ticketed for not having a parking permit will be fined $20. 

SCHOLARSHIPS/COLLEGE INFORMATION

Juniors and Seniors, are you interested in learning how to earn free money for college?  Mrs. Roslyn Palmer will be presenting information about scholarships during a Lunch and Learn session in the career center on October 7th. Bring your lunch from the cafeteria and a jump drive and eat while you hear about opportunities available to students in our community.  Parents are also welcome. 

Bainbridge High School will host the PROBE College Fair Tour on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 in the Gym.  Juniors will attend the PROBE fair from 9:00-9:30.  Seniors will attend the PROBE fair from 9:35-10:15.  Surrounding schools and PLC will attend PROBE from 10:20-11:00.  Representatives from colleges and universities will be in attendance to discuss future educational goals.

Valdosta State University offers a scholarship opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing a career in education.  The Sullivan Scholars Program provides debt-free college tuition, room/board, books, and fees plus a small stipend per semester for qualified students who are passionate about becoming teachers.  To qualify, students must meet the following criteria: Be enrolled in 10th or 11th grade in a rural Georgia high school, demonstrate significant financial need, must be HOPE eligible (4 rigor courses and 3.0 or higher HOPE GPA, or on track to become HOPE eligible upon high school graduation), and must be a U.S. Citizen.  If you are a 10th or 11th grader and plan to pursue a degree in education and would like attend Valdosta State University, please see your school counselor or Mrs. Tonya Welch in BHS room 1141. 

Seniors, Angie Wilson with Georgia Student Finance Commission will be at BHS on November 6th at 5p.m. to share information about FAFSA.
