Daily Bulletin - September 15, 2020

Attention Students:  Please practice Social Distancing while on campus.  Wearing a Mask is not mandatory, but is highly recommended.  Let’s all do our part! 

Quiz Bowl season has started! If you are interested in joining the Bearcat Academic Team, please see Mr. Kelley in room 3208 on the upstairs Science hall. Practices will be on Mondays immediately after school. 

The ASVAB will be given at BHS to Juniors and Seniors only on Wednesday, November 11th at 8:00 a.m.  This test is available to the first 50 students to sign up.  Please visit the BHS Counseling website (accessible through the BHS Home Page) to sign up.

Please turn in your soda can tabs to Mrs. T. Jones in room 6109.

The ACT will be administered at BHS on October 24, 2020 The last day to register without a late fee is September 18, 2020.  

The SAT will be administered at BHS on September 26, 2020Regular registration has passed!  Late registration is open until September 15th with a $30 late fee.

Attention Seniors:  The Purango Yearbook staff is accepting Baby Pictures.  You can either bring a hard copy to Dr. Chambers in room 6204 or email it to her at hchambers@dcboe.com .  Space is limited, so these pictures will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, and no pictures will be accepted after the page is full. 

The Purango staff is also accepting Summer Pictures at this time.  Please submit your appropriate summer pictures to Dr. Chambers in room 6204 or email them to her at hchambers@dcboe.com.

Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment:  Students requesting Certificate of Attendance/Enrollment MUST sign up online on the BHS website page; go to Quick Links, Certificate of Enrollment to sign up.  Students must sign up by Monday midnight.  Certificates will be available for pick up on Wednesday.  There will be a $1.00 charge for certificates.

Morning Traffic Flow:  All students coming from Bainbridge must enter the campus via the west gate (bus gate); only students entering campus from the east (Climax) should enter via the main gate.  All student drop off is in the front of the school and parents dropping off should enter the main gate.

School Parking at BHS requires a parking permit. Honor parking is the first row nearest the English/Fine Arts wing.  Senior Row is the second row from the English/Fine Arts wing.  Only students with Honors Parking permits are allowed to park on Honors Row, and only seniors are to park on Senior Row.

All students who drive to school are required to have a Parking Permit.  Permits are $15 and can be purchased from Mrs. Wooten in the front office.  Students who receive a ticket for not having a parking permit will be fined $20. 


The Fall 2020 Virtual Probe College Tour for Juniors and Seniors will be October 5-7, November 2, and November 4-5. Students can sign up for registration announcements and updates on participating colleges at gaprobe.org/students.  Parents may sign up at gaprobe.org/parents

The VFW Voice of Democracy Scholarship competition is open to students in grades 9-12 who are enrolled in a public high school.  Established in 1947, the Voice of Democracy audio-essay program provides high school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed recorded essay. Each year, more than 51,000; 9-12 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of more than $1.9 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program.  The national first place winner receives a $30,000 scholarship paid directly to the recipient’s American university, college or vocational/technical school. A complete list of other national scholarships range from $1,000-$16,000, and the first place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins a minimum scholarship of $1,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. NEXT DAY’S BREAKFAST:  Pancake Pups, Fesh Fruit, Apple Juice, Milk

All meals will be prepackaged.  Teachers are welcome to come to either lines and buy a complete meal.  There will not be any a la carte items sold.
