Let’s Fight the Flu Together!

Influenza is a contagious disease of the respiratory tract (nose, throat, and lungs) that can lead to complications, including pneumonia and the worsening of other chronic health conditions. One way to protect your family from new influenza strains is to get vaccinated each year. Hutto Middle School, along with the Decatur County Health Department, will be hosting a flu clinic Tuesday, October 6th. If you are interested in your child receiving the vaccination, please fill out the form that you will receive this week from your student. These forms should be completed, signed and returned to school no later than October 1st. In addition, follow good health guidelines: eat lots of fruits and vegetables, get plenty of exercise and rest to help boost your immunity to fight the effects of colds and flu. Wash hands frequently, do the elbow cough and disinfect hot spots at home and work.  We are off to a great start; let’s continue to have a healthy school year!

Distance Learning

Should the need arise for our school to go to full distance learning, this is the schedule that will be used.

Distance learning students will access content through Google Classroom and iREADY. For optimum teacher support, students should follow the online schedule below. Teachers will also be available Monday - Thursday from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm to check emails, answer student communication through Google Classroom, contact parents, and schedule additional Google Meets sessions as needed. For students who do not have internet access, busses equipped with wifi will be placed around the community on a rotating schedule. Parents will also be allowed access to the school gym by appointment only to use the Internet. If the above options do not meet your needs, the school will provide a mandatory learning packet.
