1st Grade News
Fall is officially here, and all of the pieces are starting to fall into place for our students. It is important that your child is reading each night for at least 20 minutes, and that you are signing the AR Log folder. Friendly Reminder: October is National Fire Prevention Month. Please check your smoke detectors and have a family meeting to discuss and practice your emergency procedure.
This month we will be investigating and exploring the following:
Reading: Continue to read with your child each night. It is a good rule of thumb to read the library book at least 3 times. Ask them questions about what happens in the book.
Math: Continue to practice math facts for fluency. They are still struggling with being able to recall the answers quickly, which is really important as we move into larger numbers.
Writing: Please work with your child on writing. They could write about their book or what they did at school.
Science: Sound (Volume is the loudness of sound, and pitch is the highness and lowness of the sound).
Social Studies: Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson
