Parent Volunteer Program & Chaperone Training

Interested in volunteering in our schools, serving as a chaperone or attending a school related event or trip with a student (s)?

The first step in becoming a parent volunteer is to attend an initital Parent Volunteer Training Sessions are offered at the DCBOE Support Center, 507 Martin Street. Training sessions may also be scheduled on our school campus' upon administrator request.

 Who must meet volunteer training requirements?

Individuals, who will be serving in DCBOE schools under the directive of a supervising teacher as defined below; must attend DCBOE Parent Volunteer Training:


a) serves in the school setting on a one time or ongoing and continuous basis throughout the school year


b) works in various school site placements


c) works with individual students or pull out groups in the school setting


d) chaperones or accompanies student (s) on any school related event or trip


Along with ethics training and PV program review requirements during the training session, a photo ID will be made and a background check form will be completed by participants and notarized. These forms will be sent to the DCSS Board of Education for initial screening; forms will then be routed to the Decatur County Sherriff's Office for further background check processing.
