How do I become a volunteer?
Important Information for Volunteers:
Parents, Families and Community Volunteers, Chaperones & Mentors
All parents, guardians, grandparents, caretakers or volunteers who are responsible for "the care, supervision, guidance or control of" or have "routine interaction" with anyone under the age of 18 must complete the following requirements by the Decatur County Board of Education.
Volunteerism results in positive experiences for students, families, and schools. We are all working together to increase the academic performance and experiences for all of our students.
Would you like to become a parent, family or community volunteer in our schools?
You simply need to attend one of the multiple training sessions that are offered each month at the District Parent & Family Resource Center. Session dates are listed on the District's Parent & Family Engagement Calendar (dcboe.com/"for parents" tab).

*Included in the initial 45 minute session:
*A criminal background check form will be completed
*Please bring a photo ID or state issued identification card for id verification
*Ethics, Mandated Reporting, and other volunteer information will be covered
*Acknowledgment of annual parent/volunteer training re-certification requirements effective in the 2020-2021 school year
Every new school year, all previously trained volunteers must complete the online Annual Volunteer Training Requirements to update their volunteer status for the current school year
