Parent Volunteers and Chaperones
Parent volunteers and chaperones provide a valuable resource and result in positive experiences for students, families, and schools. Together we work to increase the academic performance and experiences for all of our students.

Annual Updates Required to Remain an Active Volunteer or Chaperone
Parent volunteers and chaperones are required to annually receive training about mandated reporting of child abuse. The training will be available online and will be required each year before volunteering in the classroom or serving as a chaperone. The training may be found at www.dcboe.com
and can be accessed on the “For Parents” tab under “Annual Volunteer Training Requirements.” The training is brief and will include an overview of the ethics information covered in your initial training. All Decatur County employees and parent volunteers are provided a picture ID badge in an effort to maintain safe school environments. You will be given directions about how to receive your badge during the online training. To remain on the active volunteer and chaperone list, you must complete the annual update by November 1, 2015. If you have received initial parent volunteer training since August 1, 2015, you will NOT need to complete the update until next school year.
If you need computer access or assistance with the annual update, you may contact Cheryl Guy at firstname.lastname@example.org or 229-243-6847.
