Bainbridge Middle School 4-H members showcased their skills at the Southwest District Project Achievement competition held at Rock Eagle from February 7th - 9th. This event challenges students to demonstrate expertise in their chosen field through a two-part competition, portfolio submission, and presentation.

The following BMS Students have distinguished themselves with impressive placements in their respective categories:

  •  AZRIEL BELL - CAT CARE - 2ND PLACE
  • CORBIN KEATON - ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE - 2ND PLACE
  • LYRIC KEATON - PERFORMING ARTS DANCE - 2ND PLACE
  • MADISON PATRICK - POULTRY - 2ND PLACE
  • KENAN REFFITT - PHYSICAL, BIOLOGICAL AND EARTH SCIENCES - 3RD PLACE

A key component of the competition is the Portfolio, an extensive written record detailing a full year of involvement, leadership and service in their chosen project area. This report includes a personal background, two page summary of activities, achievements and experiences and a supporting materials section featuring photos and documentation. This portfolio composes 40% of the student's total score in the competition. By preparing the portfolio, students reinforce skills that will prepare them for college applications, scholarships, resumes and professional proposals.

In addition to the portfolios, 4-Hers must research a topic and prepare a demonstration or "illustrated talk" incorporating visual aids such as posters and props. Junior participants present for 8 -10 minutes, earning scores based on memorization, fluidity, presentation skills, and subject knowledge during a judge-led Q&A session. Performing Arts categories require students to perform before both judges and an audience.

We are proud of our 4-H participants and look forward to seeing them grow as leaders in their fields! Congratulations Bearcats!
