Students watch a live rock performance by the U.S. Army Field Band’s “As You Were” inside the Performing Arts Center.

When most people think about the Performing Arts Center, they picture evening performances, packed audiences, graduation ceremonies, college signings, or students rehearsing for their next big production. But have you ever wondered what goes on inside the PAC during the school day when the stage lights aren’t shining for a scheduled performance?

Sometimes, our students get the opportunity to experience something truly unforgettable.

Recently, students were treated to an electrifying live performance by As You Were, a premier rock band from the United States Army Field Band. The group transformed the Performing Arts Center into a full-scale rock concert experience complete with powerful vocals, incredible musicianship, dynamic lighting, and an energy that had students fully engaged from the first song to the last.

As You Were is not your typical military band. As part of the internationally acclaimed United States Army Field Band, the group travels across the country performing modern rock music while connecting with communities and inspiring audiences through music. Their performances blend popular hits, patriotic themes, and personal stories from service members, creating a show that is both entertaining and meaningful.

The band’s name, As You Were, is a military phrase used to tell troops to resume what they were doing before being interrupted — a fitting reminder that music has the power to bring people together in authentic and memorable ways.

For many students, this was more than just a concert. It was a chance to see professional-level performers up close, learn about opportunities in music and service, and experience the Performing Arts Center in a completely different way.

Moments like these are another reminder that our PAC is more than a venue — it’s a place where students can learn, connect, and be inspired in ways they may never expect during a regular school day.
