Get to Know Your Admin: Chip Davis
Director of Federal Programs, Assessment & Accountability

With 26 years of service, Chip Davis brings a deep commitment and wealth of experience to his role as Director of Federal Programs, Assessment & Accountability. He has worked at several schools, including Potter Street Elementary, Lillian E. Williams Elementary, and Elcan-King Elementary.

In his current role, Davis ensures compliance with all federal and state education laws, manages budgets across various Title programs, and serves as the Title IX Officer for Student Services. He also oversees all state-required testing as the System Test Coordinator and is the Accountability Officer responsible for accurate and timely data reporting.

Davis knew from the age of five that he wanted to become a teacher. His passion for education was driven by a desire to help children discover a love for learning and leave the classroom filled with knowledge.

As a proud alumnus of Decatur County Schools, Davis says the most rewarding part of his work is the opportunity to give back to the system that helped shape him. Looking ahead, his goal is simple yet powerful: to continue being the best he can be for the students, faculty, staff, and administrators he serves.

He hopes the community understands the complexities his department navigates in adhering to strict compliance guidelines and recognizes the behind-the-scenes work that supports student success.

DCBOE will be closed Thursday, June 19, through Friday, June 21 in observance of Juneteenth. Juneteenth honors the day in 1865 when the last enslaved people in the U.S. learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It’s a day to reflect, learn, and celebrate freedom and progress. #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #DecaturCountySchools
